Media

The Communications and Marketing department is responsible for media relations conducted on behalf of Durham College (DC). Promotion of the activities and accomplishments of DC is critical to developing greater awareness of the college among our target audiences, and increasing our positive media coverage in Durham Region, the Greater Toronto Area, across the province and in specific international markets when applicable.

Types of media:

  • Print
  • Broadcast – radio or television
  • Online – website, blogger, social networking

Communications and Marketing has been designated the first and primary contact with the media, with all outlets/reporters asked to contact the department when they need information and/or have an interview/media request.

In order to ensure a professional relationship with these outlets, the department must work cohesively with staff, faculty and students to ensure that proactive information originating from the college is accurate, complete, reflects the official position of the organization and is released to the media in a timely manner.

The department also assists with reactive media opportunities, including coordinating interviews, responding to media enquiries and assisting with crisis communications when required, to protect the brand and image of the college and further build relationships of goodwill with the media.

If you have any questions about media relations or media opportunities please contact Lindsay Holley, manager, Communications and Marketing.
