Co-op Student Salary Guidelines By law, employers are required to pay the provincial hourly minimum wage however, many employers may choose to pay the market rate for their respective co-op position(s), as this will help attract the top students. Ultimately salary is determined by each employer, and Durham College can only require at least provincial minimum wage to co-op students. Durham College does not promote positions for co-op and work terms that are fully unpaid, honourarium-based, or full commission. As co-op and work term options are fairly new at Durham College, we are still building data on average salary rates for each of our programs.
