Administrative Fee

  • Once students are accepted into their program’s co-op or work term option, an administrative fee of $475 will be assessed to their student account during the academic semester(s) prior to each scheduled work term.
  • This is an administrative fee, not an application fee. There is no fee to apply to the co-op or work term option.
  • The administrative fee is only reversible during the first 10 days of the academic semester in which the fee is assessed. Fees are for services provided by the Experiential Learning team and Durham College and do not guarantee that students secure a work term. There are no full or partial refunds of the fee after day 10 of the semester in which the fee has been assessed, even if the student chooses to transfer out of the co-op or work term option.

The fees cover services provided before, during, and after each work term, including but not limited to the following:

  1. Recruiting potential employers, developing jobs, and expanding industry networks.
  2. Developing promotional materials and individual program brochures.
  3. Participating in trade shows and professional organizations.
  4. Developing and overseeing online information sessions and student admissions and transfer processes.
  5. Facilitating student application and selection processes including posting job vacancies.
  6. Coaching students in individual job search appointments.
  7. Enhancing various job search resources and tools on the Hired portal.
  8. Verifying job opportunities.
  9. Coordinating employer information sessions, employer interviews on and off-campus, and facilitating job offers.
  10. Maintaining co-op student and employer database records.
  11. Interacting with faculty, executive deans, and associate deans about student or employer concerns and providing mediation as appropriate.
  12. Monitoring co-op student work terms, including work site visits.
  13. Collecting student work term reflection reports and employer feedback forms.
  14. Leading student and employer debriefing sessions.
  15. Verifying work terms and issuing supporting documentation for the Co-operative Education Tax Credit.
  16. Providing industry feedback to academic divisions for curriculum and program planning through participating in activities such as Program Advisory Committee meetings.
  17. Continually improving policies and procedures related to the functioning of co-op.

All of these services are continuous and ongoing, regardless of a student’s individual work term employment status.
