American Sign Language 4-Communicating with the Deaf

This course will cover units 9.7-12 in the Signing Naturally Curriculum. You will continue to develop your conversational ASL receptive and expressive skills. You will develop and expand your vocabulary, fingerspelling & numbers, non-manual signals, use of space, classifiers, grammar and syntax. This course will focus on describing places, giving opinions about others, discussing plans and goals and storytelling/ fables. Deaf Culture behavior is introduced in the classroom and through readings, videotapes, and Deaf community events. Class includes a lab component weeks three to ten as indicated in the second line of the schedule.
