Carpentry Level 1

This course will give you a solid introduction to carpentry and construction-related items, as well as build your confidence in working with wood. Topics include an introduction to all hand and power tools, building layout, formwork and basic framing, including door and window installation. You will also examine insulation, drywall installation and rafter cutting. Note: due to course content, you MUST attend the first night of class.

Notes:

The location for the Carpentry Shop is Monsignor John Pereyma Catholic Secondary School, 316 Conant St., Oshawa (south on Ritson Road, south of Bloor Street). For your first night of class and for the duration of the course, you will need safety glasses and safety boots. There is no textbook to purchase. Due to the topic of safety in the shop being given the first night, you must attend the first night of class.
