The Effective Non-pharmacological Interventions for Responsive Behaviours micro-credential focuses on strategies caregivers can use to safely and appropriately prevent escalation of responsive behaviours of older adults with dementia. Students will learn to differentiate between environmental, programming-based and caregiving interventions. By engaging in a variety of practice activities and scenarios, students will practice selecting the interventions to apply in high versus low risk situations in residential and in community care settings. Emphasis will be on the impact of building and sustaining relationships with the entire care team, intervention strategies, and the documentation of incidences of responsive behaviours.
