Communication Foundations

This course invites students to practice and develop the foundational skills and competencies necessary to communicate effectively in their personal, academic, and professional lives. Students will be challenged to reflect upon questions that include, but are not limited to: What is the purpose of communication? How does one communicate successfully and professionally? How can I improve communication to meet the needs of my audience? In this course, students will learn to analyze different audiences and their needs and adapt their messages to ensure written, verbal, and visual communication is effective. The course may introduce communication theories, techniques, and models for interpersonal relationships, group dynamics, public speaking and public communication, and intercultural environments.
