LANG 1952

In this first course of the French Certificate Program, no previous knowledge of the French language is required. The objective of this course is to enable you to gain confidence in the knowledge and application of the French language by using simple structures and vocabulary. You will learn to share information about yourself and be able to ask basic questions of those around you. One of the topics explored is the home environment while acquiring the skills to describe yourself and family members in the present tense. The reading of short articles brings to light family life in a French culture as well as the customs and activities related to family celebrations in Canada and around the world.

Notes:

Due to the pandemic, this course will not be taught in-class at the Oshawa or Whitby campuses. Instead, the instructor will deliver the course online using Zoom or another platform during the normally-scheduled class time. Assignments and tests will be posted using our Desire2Learn Learning Management System (called DC Connect). Therefore, students will need a computer with a webcam, audio and reliable high-speed Internet connectivity to participate. Due to the ongoing pandemic, we cannot predict at this time if/when we will resume in-class delivery for this course. Tuition includes a $3 non-tax deductible fee.
