This practicum experience provides you with an opportunity to apply and synthesize mental health nursing principles, theories and interventions studied in the theory courses. Upon completion, you will be prepared to assess, provide and evaluate interventions for, and advocate for mental health clients in a variety of institutional and community settings.

Please contact the Centre for Professional and Part-time Learning Placement Officer at pplplacements@durhamcollege.ca at least two terms (6-8 months) in advance of the term you are hoping to complete the placement for this program.

Current registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario is required.

  • Or NURS 2566 Special Topics in Mental Health Nursing )
