(Formerly Sewing-Drapery Making 1) Come and discover the rewarding world of drapery making in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Save yourself hundreds of dollars in labour costs when you produce your own custom made, professionally finished window treatments. Styles may include lined rod pocket curtains, tab top or back tab curtains, tiebacks, pleated sheers, a flat roman shade or a self-lined rectangular valance.You will acquire knowledge of drapery fabrics and linings, hardware and installation and how to correctly measure windows and calculate fabric requirements. Choose a style from above to make for a small window using a sequential process. This course is suited to anyone new to drapery making as well as those who would like to update their skills. You will learn sewing techniques that will prepare you to work in this field. By the end of the course you will have completed a unique window treatment, professionally finished. You will need a sewing machine of your own, in good repair in order to complete the required home assignments. The college will provide a machine during class if necessary. Please bring a notebook to the first class. Other supplies required for the course will be discussed then. There will be additional costs depending on your choices for the various supplies.
