Durham College Certificate
This certificate will help you enhance your communications skills (reading, writing and speaking) so that you can communicate with confidence. You will also further your knowledge of grammar and develop an appreciation of French culture. Whether you require a knowledge of French for your career or enjoy vacationing in French-speaking countries, you will find this program very effective.
There are 6 courses in the French Certificate Program: French 1-5 and Francais ecrit. Each of the French 1-5 courses are offered in two different formats: In-class/Synchronous or Online.
In-class/Synchronous: Weekly scheduled classes are taught by an instructor. During the pandemic, these are offered using video-conferencing technologies. This format is ideal for anyone who prefers a structured class-time and a lecture format. In the course list below, these are listed as "Oshawa" under Location/Delivery Method.
Asynchronous Online: With the support of a facilitator, students log-in and complete weekly activities on their own time. This format is ideal for students who prefer a course that does not have weekly scheduled lectures or wishes to proceed through the course at their own pace (deadlines to hand in assignments still apply). These are listed as Online or Monthly Intake below.
Note: Francais ecrit is currently only offered in the Asynchronous format. Not all In-class/Synchronous courses are offered each semester.
