The CFP® or QAFP certification programs provide the industry credentials needed to help financial planners achieve their goals. Financial planners learn the fundamentals of building a comprehensive financial plan and are recognized as dedicated professionals with the know-how to assist clients while adhering to high ethical standards.
Path to QAFP™ Certification
Minimum Education Requirements: College Diploma
Step 1: Complete the (educational requirements) four Core and Advanced Curriculum Courses through Durham College. (see below)
Step 2: Complete Introduction to Professional Ethics course (through FP Canada)
Step 3: Write the QAFP™ Exam (through FP Canada)
Step 4: Apply for QAFP™ certification (requires a minimum of 1 year of work experience)
Step 5: Complete the QAFP™ Professional Education Program (through FP Canada)
Step 6: Become QAFP™ certified
Path to CFP® Certification
Minimum Education Requirements: University degree
Step 2: Complete FP Canada Institute™ – Introduction to Professional Ethics (IPE) (through FP Canada)
Step 3: Complete CFP® professional education program (through FP Canada)
Step 4: Write CFP® Exam (through FP Canada)
Step 5: Become CFP® certified (requires a minimum of 3 years of work experience)
