Introduction to sterile storage, inventory control distribution systems including the case cart system, portering, and stock rotation.

Notes:

Student must obtain a minimum of 60% to pass this course and a minimum of 60% on the final exam.
The course manual (Medical Device Reprocessing Manual) and workbook (Medical Device Reprocessing Workbook) must be ordered online through: http://www.mdrao.ca/ Under Education, select the Manual and the Workbook. This course contains mandatory chat sessions and group work.

Prerequisites:

  • (NURS 1584 Medical Terminology - Level 1
  • And STPC 1580 Microbiology and Infection Control for Sterile Processing
  • And STPC 2580 Identification, Care and Handling of Instrumentation in Sterile Processing
  • And STPC 3580 Decontamination Principles, Procedures and Practices in Sterile Processing
  • And STPC 4580 Assembly, Wrapping and Packaging of Instrumentation, Supplies and Patient Care Equipment
  • And STPC 5580 Disinfection and Sterilization Concepts and Techniques )
