Interpersonal Skills for Business Professionals Series

Invest in your professional future by strengthening your interpersonal skills…all without having to leave your workplace.  Take part in our live interactive online courses.  Each course is made up of five one-hour sessions accessed through your computer or smart phone, followed by opportunities to apply your learning in the workplace.  You will receive a Durham College e-credential for each course that you successfully complete.

Note:  We anticipate that these courses will fill very quickly, so be sure to register early to avoid disappointment.

Advancing your Negotiation Skills

Do you negotiate with internal or external colleagues, partners, vendors and/or customers?  This course will help you learn how to manage even the most challenging situations, and will help you expand your relationship-building, communication, influencing and planning skills.

Giving and Receiving Feedback

Feedback is an essential part of everyday business life, no matter what role you are in.  You will learn how to give focused feedback to others – whether peers, employees or management – in a way that promotes strong relationships and improved results.  It will also help you receive feedback more effectively from others and develop action plans to ultimately strengthen your own performance.

Handling Office Conflict

Conflict can happen in any workplace.  Unless it is handled appropriately, it can damage relationships, reduce productivity, lead to increased absenteeism and even result in exits from the organization.  Learn how to identify the root causes of conflict, select the most appropriate approach to use, recognize what to do when something unexpected arises, and much more.

Do I need to take part in all five sessions for each course I choose to take?

Yes.  Each course is made up of a total of five one-hour sessions.  If you miss one or more of these sessions, you will not be eligible to receive the course badge (i.e. e-credential).

How much does each course cost?

Each 5-hour course costs just $89.95 plus HST.

Will there be any “homework” associated with these courses?

Yes. One of the most exciting parts of these courses is that they will provide the participants with the opportunity to apply their learning to real-life situations.  So, plan on about an hour of additional time for course-related work following each session.

What kind of credential will I receive after finishing a course?

Upon successful completion of a course, you will receive a Durham College badge.  A badge is an e-credential that can be placed on your LinkedIn page, e-portfolio, website, resume, etc. to formally reflect your learning in a specific area.

Do I need any special hardware or software to participate in these online courses?

These courses are run using a platform called Zoom.  The first time you access Zoom, you will need to complete a short software download and test your system to ensure that you will be able to see and hear the sessions.  As a participant, you will not need a video camera or microphone to take part in a course.
