Student Advisor

Professional and Part-Time Learning is committed to student success. Our student advisor, Angela Wood can help you navigate through your studies by customizing academic plans to suit your needs. The student advisor can provide support in the following areas:

  • Guidance in setting short-term and long-term academic goals.
  • Assistance in developing academic plans and mapping out your educational path.
  • Help in accessing DC resources such as Student Academic Learning Services (SALS) and Access and Support Centre (ASC).
  • Information on pathways to universities or post-graduate programs.
  • Guidance in identifying future career goals.

Access and Support Centre (ASC)

The Access and Support Centre (ASC) provides confidential services to students who are temporarily at- risk or identified with an exceptionality, to ensure equal access to all aspects of the academic environment. The ASC provides accommodations to meet students’ individual needs through assistive technology and through coaching on self-advocacy and success strategies. The ASC team works in partnership with the students and faculty to co-ordinate appropriate supports to ensure inclusive and accessible learning environments on campus. Student Academic Learning Services (SALS)

Student Academic Learning Services (SALS) provides academic support to promote active and independent learning. Our services are designed to help students reach their academic goals. SALS offers:

  • Appointments with specialists
  • Course-specific tutorials
  • English language and writing support
  • Online resources
  • Peer tutoring
  • Workshops
  • Learning strategies support
  • Quiet study space

SALS is located at both the Oshawa and Whitby campuses. There is no cost to access SALS services.
