For 22 years, Debra Morrison has enjoyed teaching at Durham College. She is the first-year co-ordinator and a professor with the Practical Nursing program and also teaches in the Critical Care Nursing E-Learning graduate certificate program.
Because of her extensive knowledge and clinical expertise, in 1997 Morrison was part of the curriculum development and teaching teams for Critical Care certificate programs at both Durham College and Centennial College. She was also part of the development team for the Durham College Critical Care Nursing E-Learning graduate certificate program launched in 2007. She has a keen interest in technology and online learning and has developed and continues to manage several online learning courses for nursing students across North America.
A graduate from Loyalist College’s first Nursing program, Morrison went on to attain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Ottawa and is currently enrolled in the University of Toronto’s Master in Nursing degree program. She currently sits on several college-wide interprofessional committees and belongs to multiple professional nursing organizations. In addition, she has reviewed several pathophysiology textbooks and has presented lectures nationally on managing students in non-traditional clinical settings.
Morrison believes that online learning combined with traditional delivery is the future of health education as it increases the flexibility, availability and convenience for the learner.
