A full-time professor in the Practical Nursing program, Janet Bidgood is responsible for course development, revisions and course delivery in a fast-paced, highly technological and rapidly changing environment. She is committed to providing a learning environment mutually conducive to continuous growth and development.
Bidgood graduated from the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at the University of Toronto in 1979 and became a staff nurse at Oshawa General Hospital, now Lakeridge Health Corporation. During her time at the hospital she held the positions of staff nurse, head nurse, director of the patient care unit and program leader, while embarking on her lifelong learning journey and obtaining her Nursing Unit Administration certificate and Master’s of Health Science (management) degree.
Prior to joining Durham College, Bidgood spent six years teaching in the collaborative Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Practical Nursing programs at Sir Sanford Fleming College/Trent University. She has experience as a clinical trials co-ordinator and has conducted a number of clinical trials related to cardiovascular medicine and treatment. She thoroughly enjoys partnering with students and will continue to assist them with educational aspirations.
