Completion of Basic Emergency Management (BEM) awareness training will provide participants with an overview of emergency management in Ontario including the systems and processes for preventing, mitigating, preparing for, responding to and recovering from emergencies and disasters.
This training is accredited by the Ontario Fire Marshal (OFM)
This training appeals to types of professions that are responsible for emergencies within their organizations, public safety and emergency services field. (Businesses, Hospitals, Buildings, Fire Services, EMS, Police Services, Security, 911 Dispatch)
- At the end of the course, participants will demonstrate an understanding of the core concepts of emergency management in Ontario. Upon successful completion of this course, the participant will be capable to:
- Provide an understanding of the components of emergency management (i.e. the systems and processes for preventing, mitigating, preparing for, responding to and recovering from emergencies and disasters
- To provide awareness about the key provisions of the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act.
- To identify the roles and responsibilities of various levels of government and other key organizations involved in emergency management.
