Incident Management System (IMS 200)

This specialized training is an excellent introduction to building one common language for everyone that has a role to play in any kind of community emergency or disaster.  Police, fire, paramedics are required to develop an understanding of IMS and the application in simple incidents.

This training is designed for individuals that will potentially implement incident management system at simple incidents or during early phases of a complex incident (police officers, fire fighters, paramedics, city works personnel, social services, municipal administrators, city workers, etc.).

This training will teach strategies on how to command simple incidents and will receive an introduction to the incident action plan.  Participants will familiarize themselves with incident facilities, resource management, and the management of communication.  This training is an Emergency Management Ontario developed program.  Those that complete the training will receive a certificate of completion from the Ontario Fire Marshall and Emergency Management office.

It is required that all participants take the (FREE COURSE) IMS 100 online training offered on the OFMEM site: https://training.emergencymanagementontario.ca/TPOnline/TPOnline.dll/EMO_Public_Course/COURSENO=COUR2011070415145004500149 prior to taking IMS 200 training.

  1. You can read the materials and complete the quiz. The book is 81 pages.
  2. You can take the e-learning course. This has 5 interactive units and will take about an hour to complete.

CIJS also offers Basic Emergency Management BEM which is suggested for individuals with limited experience prior to the IMS 200 training.
