Message from the dean

Welcome to the School of Media, Art and Design at Durham College

dean greg murphy

Graduates of the School of Media, Art and Design make a real contribution at work, in their communities and in their own lives. We educate students to enter careers that of lot of people want.

We are makers who make a difference. We are MAD.

MAD students use their skills and creativity to collaborate with community groups and not-for-profit organizations, and make a significant, positive contribution to the culture and economy of this region. By helping community groups achieve their goals, students understand how classroom learning can be applied to real projects, outside the College.

MAD students engage in serious play.

MAD graduates are ready for creative work.

MAD has lots of well-equipped workspaces: tune your skills in the radio station or build your knowledge in the fabrication studios. Our MAD learning environment is enriched by its close proximity to studios, galleries and music in Oshawa, Whitby and Toronto. Through courses in business and marketing, MAD students learn to combine their studio education with the entrepreneurial skills needed to build a successful career in the world’s great culture centres.

It’s your turn. Make something. Make a difference.
