Virtual Classroom

This session will show you the basics of how to use the Virtual Classroom. Did you know Virtual Classroom can also be used as virtual office hours? Additional resources posted here.

Video Assignments in DC Connect

This session will provide an overview of the new Video Assignments tool in DC Connect. The Video Assignments tool has four available project types: individual project, group project, interactive video and question & answer. This tool is a great option for students to demonstrate knowledge in an online assignment. This session will demonstrate the difference between these assignments and how they can be set-up in DC Connect.


How to Join an Online PD Session (For the sessions below)

  • Go to Teams.Office.com,
  • Sign in with your bannerID, followed by @durhamcollege.ca (i.e. 10012346@durhamcollege.ca) and your network password. Step-by-step instructions are available here.
  • Press “Join by using Code”
  • Enter the following code to join the Team: x2jwz81
  • This Team is open to anyone with a @durhamcollege.ca email address.
  • On the left side of the Team you will see a channel for the PD sessions listed below. Some channels may be hidden, you may have to press "show".

New tool: DC Connect Annotations Tool

In DC Connect, you can now provide feedback to your students directly in submitted assignments without having to download anything by using the new annotation tools. This means you can provide feedback to students on their papers as naturally as you would in-person. More information about the annotations tool can be found in our blog.

Advanced use of MS Teams

This session will demonstrate how to use Microsoft Planner and Forms within a Team, how to create break-out sessions through private channels, and the assignments tab.

Setting up your Gradebook

This session will walk you through the process of exporting final grades to Banner. At the completion of this session, you will be able to: verify whether grades are visible to your students or not; Review setup of final grades and edit final grades, and Export grades to Banner from DC Connect.
