Course Outline, Lesson Plans and UDL

Course Outlines and UDL

What is it?

Course Outlines describe the outcomes, evaluations, and teaching sequence of the course.

Durham College outlines already help meet Universal Design for Learning principles by providing students with a clear expectation of what is expected, how they will be assessed, and resources to help them learn.

What are the benefits?

Reviewing or revising your course outline to meet all UDL guidelines will benefit students by creating multiple options for assessment, engagement, and by providing multiple ways for students to understand what is expected of them to be successful.

What UDL principle does it meet?

It can help you meet all three.

Lesson Plans and UDL

What is it?

Lesson Plans are tools to help educators structure, plan, and organize a lesson.  Applying UDL principles to lesson plans includes using active learning strategies, accessible documents and presentations, and providing students with the resources and strategies they need to be successful.

What are the benefits?

Creating a lesson plan using Universal Design for Learning principles helps you meet multiple learning styles, needs, and preferences. It helps you reach more students in your classroom and create an inclusive classroom where all students benefit.

What UDL principle does it meet?

It helps you meet all three.
