COVID-19 Update: A new COVID-19 case reported at Whitby campus – February 18

One new COVID-19 case reported at the Whitby campus.

DETAILS

  • We have been advised that a member of the DC community has tested positive for COVID-19.
  • The individual was last at the Whitby campus in the main building on Friday, February 12.
  • Those members of our campus community who are at risk have been contacted by the Durham Region Health Department (DRHD).
  • This case is unrelated to any other case that has been reported on campus.

WHAT IS BEING DONE

  • Risk mitigation measures, such as extensive disinfecting have been implemented as appropriate.
  • If you have not been contacted, classes and activities continue as scheduled.
  • Individuals who are at risk of COVID-19 transmission through this case have been contacted by DRHD, are being monitored and are isolating at home.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO

If feeling unwell:

  • Do not come to campus if you’re feeling unwell or have had exposure to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.
  • If you are feeling unwell, or aren’t sure whether or not you should come to campus, please stay home, complete the online assessment form at covidswab.lh.ca and visit durham.ca/novelcoronavirus for more information about COVID-19.
  • If you have received a COVID-19 test, you are required to remain at home until you are cleared by DC’s risk management/health and safety office.

If you must come to campus:

  • Prior to arriving on campus, complete the mandatory one minute COVID-19 screening questionnaire.
  • All students, employees and visitors are required to wear a mask while on campus at all times.
  • Masks may only be removed in designated eating areas while eating and must be put back on once eating is complete.
  • Eating is not permitted outside of designated spaces, such as lounges and hallways.
  • Follow all of DC’s preventative safety measures.

The health and safety of our students and employees is of utmost importance. These stringent COVID-19 requirements have been developed with guidance from public health authorities and are to be followed by all community members when on our campuses. It is everyone’s responsibility to ensure the health and well-being of our classmates and colleagues through the mandatory use of masks while on campus, as well as following the preventative safety measures.
