Confirmed positive case of COVID-19 at DC’s Oshawa campus

Thursday, October 1

We have been advised that a Durham College (DC) student, who was at the Oshawa campus on September 30, has tested positive for COVID-19.

  • The student was on campus for class in the Centre for Collaborative Education (CFCE), fourth floor, and in the Campus Library, second floor, on September 30.
  • DC has closed both spaces and is in the process of conducting a deep cleaning and sanitization under guidance from Durham Region Public Health (DRPH). These spaces will continue to be out of service for the appropriate amount of time. Please check the campus operations chart for up-to-date closure information.
  • Risk mitigation measures have been implemented at the college based on specific direction from DRPH to ensure the health and safety of the entire campus community.
  • DRPH officials are also in the process of completing necessary contact tracing and will directly contact any student or employee who would be determined to be at risk.
  • Unless contacted by DRPH, the only action required of you is to continue following DC’s protocol outlined below.
  • Our student is currently isolating at home and is being accommodated academically.

We wish our student a safe and speedy recovery.
