COVID-19 Update: COVID-19 vaccination required at Durham College for fall semester

Durham College (DC) to implement an on-campus vaccination policy this September.

Effective Friday, September 3

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve, DC is taking action to help reduce the impact of the Delta variant and protect the health and safety of our campus community by implementing a vaccination policy for the fall 2021 semester.

Taking effect on Friday, September 3, the vaccination policy requires all members of the DC community – students, employees, third-party contractors and visitors who are coming to campus – to be fully vaccinated by Sunday, October 17 with WHO-approved vaccination However, we urge anyone coming to campus before the deadline to be fully vaccinated by the start of the semester.

DC has an obligation to provide a safe environment to work and learn. The decision for a campus vaccination policy comes after consultation with public health officials and colleagues in Ontario’s college system. This decision will go a long way in protecting the health and safety of our campus community and beyond in the fight against COVID-19.

Commencing September 3, those coming to campus will be required to attest their vaccination status using the college’s updated COVID-19 screening app. Individuals requiring vaccines can book an appointment through the Province of Ontario’s booking site, at one of the Region of Durham’s vaccination clinics, or at the Campus Ice Centre. Once the semester gets underway, the college will also implement pop-up vaccination sites throughout the fall. Those who cannot be vaccinated, based on medical or other grounds recognized by the Ontario Human Rights Code, should request exemption before the start of the fall semester through contacting Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at

More details will be shared in the coming days and further information and FAQs will be posted on the college’s COVID-19 website.
