COVID-19 Update: Fourth off-campus student tests positive for COVID-19 – risk to campus community very low

Dear students and colleagues,

I am writing to inform you that a fourth Durham College (DC) student, who has not yet been on campus, has recently tested positive for COVID-19. As all current positive COVID-19 cases at DC have not been to campus and are isolating at home, the risk to the campus community continues to be very low.

Public Health leads COVID-19 contact tracing for any member of the DC community. At this time, no on-campus exposures have been identified related to this individual.

We wish the student a quick and healthy recovery.

To ensure full transparency when reporting positive COVID-19 cases at DC, the college has developed a reporting dashboard, found on our coronavirus webpage, that will be updated daily.

The health and safety of our campus community remains our highest priority and DC has taken extensive measures to help control the spread of COVID-19. This includes:

limiting the amount of people on campus, implementing very strict preventative safety measures and enhanced cleaning and disinfection protocols.

If you are feeling unwell, please do not come to campus. Seek guidance from Public Health and follow the steps outlined in our COVID reporting document.

We will continue to provide COVID-19 updates to the campus community through email, the DC Mobile app and on the COVID-19 webpage. If you have a question that hasn’t been answered on our COVID-19 webpage, we encourage you to email

Stay safe, stay well.
