COVID-19 update: Illness reporting procedures for students and employees

COVID-19 and illness reporting procedures for students and employees

Thursday, January 28

The health and safety of our campus community is our priority and we are committed to helping provide a safe learning and work environment for all who must be on campus at this time.

In order to do so, students and employees are reminded of Durham College’s (DC) process for reporting illnesses during the COVID-19 pandemic.

If you are scheduled to come to campus and are ill or feeling unwell, you are required to stay home and follow the guidelines listed in DC’s reporting infographic information.

  • Students are required to report their illnesses to the risk manager at or their academic school office who will then notify the risk manager.
  • Employees are required to report their illnesses to the health and safety officer at 905.926.2401 or

As an additional reminder, students and employees are asked to stay home if:

  • You have developed a cough, fever, shortness of breath, runny nose, sore throat or other symptoms that may be related to COVID-19 as per Public Health.
  • You have travelled outside of Canada within the last 14 days.
  • You have been exposed to someone who is, or may be, infected with the COVID-19 virus.

For more information about what you need to know before going to class or work, please visit our Coming to Campus tab on our coronavirus webpage.

The health and well-being of our campus community involves us all.  We thank you for your continued cooperation.
