COVID-19 update: No impact to classes with Ontario’s stay-at-home order

Dear students and colleagues,

Earlier today, the Ontario government announced new province-wide restrictions, which will go into effect on Thursday, January 14, to help curb the rising rate of COVID-19 infections. The new restrictions include a stay-at-home order for all non-essential purposes which does not impact Durham College’s (DC) current operation. Classes and services continue as scheduled.

We understand that today’s announced additional measures may pose challenges for many students and employees, including those with elementary school-aged children. As you balance school, work and parental responsibilities over the next few weeks, please know that there are support services available to help.

In addition, the below external resources for students and employees with young children, compiled by DC’s Centre for Academic and Faculty Enrichment, provide excellent information about supporting children during COVID-19 and online learning:

It’s essential that we all do our part to keep our campus community healthy and safe by following the stringent protocols DC has in place.

Students and employees are reminded to do their part when it comes to following public health guidelines. Those who do not need to be on campus are required to stay home. Do not come to campus if you feel unwell, have travelled recently, or have been in contact with someone with COVID-19 or are awaiting a COVID-19 test.

Thank you for your continued efforts.

Stay well,

Don Lovisa
