Durham College implements full closure of Oshawa and Whitby campuses and all locations.
As of Tuesday, March 24 at 11 p.m., until further notice.
Yesterday the provincial government announced the closing of all non-essential services in an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19. As such, effective Tuesday, March 24 at 11 p.m., access to all buildings will be closed to students, employees, and visitors at the Oshawa and Whitby campuses and all locations, until further notice.
In an unwavering commitment to supporting our students through semester completion, our learning continuity model will not be impacted by these closures and delivery of online courses and services continues as planned. This means employees and students are to work and study from home as previously communicated, and managers and employees are to continue regular meetings and updates.
Labs, shops and studio instruction, which were to begin on April 6, are now postponed. As we determine our next steps, we will communicate directly with impacted students in the coming days.
As identified by the government, our student residence remains open to a controlled number of students.
A small number of essential service employees are required onsite. These employees will be directly communicated with by their manager.
Later this afternoon you will receive an email outlining the supports available to assist DC students through this transition to online learning. We encourage you to refer to, and access these supports, and reach out often. It’s important that we all stay connected through this stressful and uncertain time.
