COVID-19 update: student and employee access to campus during the province’s stay-at-home order

Dear students and employees,

Yesterday we confirmed that the Ontario government’s stay-at-home order does not impact on-campus learning and service activities at Durham College (DC), as post-secondary institutions are considered an essential service.

Students scheduled to take part in on-campus learning activities and employees who have been identified by their supervisors as essential are permitted to come to campus. All others are required to work and learn remotely.

Those who have permission to be on campus must complete the mandatory one-minute COVID-19 screening questionnaire before arriving. Approval received from this daily screening tool can be used as proof if students or employees are questioned regarding their travel to campus.

It’s important to note that the college has seen zero transmission of on-campus COVID-19 cases at both the Oshawa and Whitby campuses. This is a result of everyone doing their part in adhering to the COVID-19 health and safety protocols that have been put in place at DC, including increased cleaning and sanitization and stringent preventative safety measures.

If you feel unwell, have travelled recently, have been in contact with someone with COVID-19 or are awaiting a COVID-19 test, please do not come to campus.

We continue to provide COVID-19 updates to the campus community through email, the DC Mobile app, and the COVID-19 webpage.

If you have a question that hasn’t been answered on our COVID-19 webpage, please email dccares@durhamcollege.ca.

Stay safe and stay well.
