DC to receive additional COVID-19 funding from provincial government

Dear colleagues and students,

This week, the Honourable Ross Romano, Minister of Colleges and Universities, announced an investment of $25 million in funding from the provincial government to help support post-secondary institutions mitigate the early costs created by addressing the COVID-19 outbreak.

Of the $25 million, Durham College (DC) will receive $400,000, which will be used to support our most pressing needs. These may include emergency financial support for students, emergency food and housing, mental health support, and expenses related to transitioning to online modes of learning and delivery of service.

As we navigate this crisis, our goal has and continues to be ensuring the well-being of our community  while also supporting the continuity of learning for our students. These funds will help us achieve that goal, providing much needed assistance during these unprecedented times.

We want to thank the provincial government for its commitment to our students and to the successful completion of their programs.

The college is working on finalizing the details of the funding allocation and will share more information, including how to access support, as soon as it is available.
