Important information about the winter semester

Welcome to the winter semester at Durham College (DC)!

We are committed to providing you with an exceptional college experience, seamless supports and the high-quality education for which DC is known.

Prior to the start of the semester on Monday, January 10, we encourage you to read the below information to prepare yourself for a successful and healthy year ahead.


  • Winter semester: Monday, January 10 to Friday, April 22.
  • Reading week: Monday, February 28 to Friday, March 4.

  • Parking – If you require a parking pass you must register and pay for your pass online or purchase daily tickets on-site. More information is available at
  • U-PASS transit pass – The U-PASS program provides students with unlimited travel each semester on Durham Region Transit (DRT) and is paid for through ancillary fees for all eligible, full-time students. For more information about registering for U-PASS, please visit
  • Designated building entrances – Access to the Oshawa and Whitby campus buildings is limited to specific entrances to manage capacity. Please view access entrances on the COVID-19 webpage or by visiting
  • Student supports – At this time, most of our student support services are available remotely. A full list of student supports and operating hours can be found online.


DC will communicate with you throughout the winter semester about the following topics in several ways:

  • COVID-19 – Communications will be sent via DC Mail and posted to the COVID-19 webpage. Should a positive COVID-19 case occur on campus, a contact tracing email will be sent to those who may be directly impacted.   • Inclement weather – Should in-person campus operations be impacted by severe winter weather, DC will communicate relevant information through DC Mail, as well as post on the college’s campus status webpage, social media and the mobile app. Unless a closure is communicated, DC’s campuses remain open and operations unaffected.
