Reminder – mask mandate to continue until further notice

In April, Durham College (DC) announced that the college’s mandatory mask mandate would be extended until further notice, while proof of vaccination and pre-entry screening will no longer be required as of May 1.

This means:

  • All students, employees and visitors are required to wear a face mask or covering when inside college buildings until further notice.
  • Users of recreational spaces, including the FLEX and gymnasium in Oshawa, Whitby fitness centre, sports fields, Campus Ice Centre and Field house are not required to use face masks. Employees and spectators are required to continue to wear face masks.
  • Guests of DC’s restaurant, Bistro ’67 are not required to wear a mask, however, employees will continue to do so.
  • Pre-screening through the mobile app and checkpoints at entrances will no longer take place. All those coming to campus are responsible to self-monitor closely for COVID-19 symptoms. If you have COVID-19 symptoms or have tested positive, do not come to campus and follow the steps outlined in our COVID-related illness reporting page.
  • All entrances to our buildings will once again be open.

Important reminders:

  • It’s everyone’s responsibility to remain vigilant and comply with the mask mandate.
  • Remain up-to-date on boosters when eligible. Vaccination remains the best protection against the worst effects of COVID-19 and its variants and is the most important way to protect public health.
  • Continue to maintain physical distancing wherever possible.
  • DC’s response to illness reporting is available at
  • DC will continue to monitor Ontario’s COVID-19 situation and make decisions to protect the health and safety of our campus community.

We appreciate everyone’s flexibility, patience and ongoing efforts to keep our campuses and communities healthy and safe.
