WHEN

Tuesday, November 10

IMPLICATIONS

We have been advised that two DC students have tested positive for COVID-19. These two cases are unrelated to one another, with one student studying out of the Whitby campus and the other out of the Oshawa campus.

  • The Whitby student was last on campus on Wednesday, November 4 and visited an exterior lab.
  • The Oshawa student was last on campus on Tuesday, November 3 and visited the G-Wing in the Gordon Willey building.
  • Risk mitigation measures have been implemented at the college based on specific direction from Durham Region Public Health (DRPH) to ensure the health and safety of the entire campus community.
  • DRPH officials are in the process of completing necessary contact tracing and will directly contact any student or employee who would be determined to be at risk.
  • Unless contacted by DRPH, the only action required of you is to continue following DC’s protocol outlined below.
  • Our students are currently isolating at home and being accommodated academically. We wish them a safe and speedy recovery.

Please be reminded of the college’s preventative safety measures when coming to campus and on campus.

  • All coming to campus must complete a one minute COVID-19 screening questionnaire prior to arriving.
  • If you are feeling unwell, or aren’t sure whether or not you should come to campus, please stay home, contact DRPH as well as:
  • Review our COVID reporting document for steps to take when reporting illness.
  • Wear a mask or face covering when inside campus buildings at all times.
  • Sanitize regularly.
  • Ensure physical distancing.
  • Only come to campus for a scheduled class, activity, appointment or to use campus resources, such as the Campus Library or Wi-Fi access.
