This workshop reviews the fundamental principles of units – their meaning/purpose, converting between units, and the strategies for handling units included in mathematical equations. It will highlight the differences between the metric and imperial systems of measurement, as well as the list of metric prefixes and their meanings. Additionally, it will look at the universally applicable approach of unit conversion factors. Finally, the workshop will discuss the concept of significant digits and their use in applied calculations.
