DC’s The Solace Centre offers a holistic approach to health and wellness

As students begin the academic year, Durham College is taking a holistic approach to their health and wellness with the launch of The Solace Centre. 

Created with the goal of empowering students to intentionally engage in their wellbeing, by fostering their development of resilience and grit, the centre offers a wide range of programming and supports, with an emphasis on education, harm reduction, personal welfare and social justice, believing in the inherent worth and potential for growth in all individuals.

Services offered include:

  • Providing a space for students to engage with wellness-related services, tools and resources.
  • Wellness-related workshops on topics such as meditation, mindfulness, nutrition and resilience.
  • Wellness coaching.
  • Nutritional counselling.
  • Health promotion and harm reduction outreach across campus by student ambassadors.

Staffed by a diverse team including a health promotions coordinator, wellness coach and registered holistic nutritionist, The Solace Centre is open from Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Those interested in learning more can visit www.durhamcollege.ca/solace.
