Whitby Campus

Please see below for need to know information about the event in general:

Sign in

Morning Shift

  • Please arrive at the Staff Lounge at 8:30 a.m. and sign in at the volunteer table to receive your lunch ticket and DC t-shirt.

Afternoon Shift

  • Please arrive at the Staff Lounge at 11:30 a.m. and sign in at the volunteer table to receive your lunch ticket and DC t-shirt.

Please note; you need to be at your station by 12 sharp.  If you are planning on eating, please take this into consideration when planning your arrival time – you will need to eat before your shift.

Dress Code

  • Dark pants
  • Volunteer T-Shirt (available for pick-up when you sign in).
  • Comfortable shoes

Guest Arrivals

Guests will be directed to Park in the main lot and enter through the main entrance where they will have their ticket scanned if they have pre-registered. If they have not pre-registered, guests can register and sign-in on laptops located to the left of the doors. Guests will receive a Durham College bag, a Durham College program guide and an Open House event guidewith all event information.

Event Guide

Upon registration, guests will receive an event guide outlining the activities of the day and a link for the feedback survey.  If guests complete the feedback survey they are entered into a draw to wina $500 or $1000 Bookstore gift care.

School Tables

All school and services tables will be in the Cafeteria. Please direct guests to the appropriate schools to get more information on their program(s) of interest.

Walking campus tours

The Tour Depot will be located in the main foyer across from Tim Hortons with tours departing on an ongoing basis for the duration of the event.

REFRESHMENTS FOR STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS

Lunch tickets will be provided to all volunteers when they sign-in in the Staff Lounge.

Lunch will be provided between 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the Staff Lounge for all volunteers, except CFF volunteers. Please ensure that there is always coverage in your area. We ask that you only take 20 minutes for lunch and quickly get back to your station. CFF lunch volunteers will receive their lunch at the CFF.

Refreshments for visitors

Tim Hortons will be open for visitors.

Bookstore

The bookstores at both the Oshawa and Whitby campuses will be open.   Guests will be able to look at the books and buy Durham College swag. Open House event guides include a tax-free savings coupon on DC items for all guests. Please encourage guests to visit both locations to use the coupons. Guests must show coupon to Bookstore staff.

Tear down

It is important that all stations remain set-up and staffed until 2:30 p.m. At 2:30 p.m. provided there are no visitors in your area please pack up your booth and then offer assistance to other areas. Please see a staff member in your section for further directions. All supplies should be delivered to the Strategic Enrolment Services (front desk at the main doors of the campus). Once tear down has been completed, please check with someone in the Recruitment and Admissions team (Angela Werner) to see if there is anything else to be done before leaving.

Afternoon Shift

  • Please arrive at the Marketplace Cafeteria at 11:30 a.m. and sign in at the volunteer table to receive your lunch ticket.

Please note; you need to be at your station by 12 sharp.  If you are planning on eating, please take this into consideration when planning your arrival time – you must eat before your shift begins.

  • Dark pants (no jeans please)
  • Volunteer Shirt (available for pick-up when you sign in).

Guest arrivals

Guests will be directed to Park in Commencement lot and enter through the SW wing entrance where they will be directed to the Computer Commons for event registration.  They will receive a Durham College bag, a Durham College Guide and their brochure with all event information in the Pit.

Upon registration, guests will receive an event guide outlining the activities of the day and a link to the feedback survey.  If guests complete the feedback survey they are entered into a draw to win tuition $500 or $1000 Campus Bookstore gift card.

All schools and service tables will be in the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre (CRWC). Please direct guests to the appropriate schools to get more information on their program(s) of interest.

Walking campus tours

The Tour Depot will be located in the back of the CRWC with tours departing on an ongoing basis for the duration of the event.

SHUTTLE BUS

There will be a shuttle bus available at the front doors of the CRWC for guests to visit the Centre for Collaborative Education (CFCE) building. The shuttle will be running the duration of the event.

Lunch tickets will be provided to all volunteers when they sign-in in the Marketplace Cafeteria.

Lunch will be provided between 11 -1 in the Marketplace Cafeteria for all volunteers.   Please ensure that there is always coverage in your area. We ask that you only take 20 minutes for lunch and quickly get back to your station.

Refreshments for VISITORS

B-Wing Tim Hortons and the DC Alumni Association Cafe in the CFCE will be open for visitors.
