Anatomy & Physiology Of Communication and Swallowing

CDAs in the workplace require an understanding of the anatomical structure and physiological function that underlie communication and swallowing. This course introduces them to the anatomy and physiology of the mechanisms used for speech, language, cognitive-communication and swallowing, including an introduction to general anatomy and physiology terms used by speech-language pathologists: the nervous system, the skull, the oral cavity, the pharynges, the larynx and the respiratory system. The applicability of each of these structures to communication and swallowing disorders is emphasized throughout the course.
