Digital technologies have, and will continue to, alter the landscape for law enforcement. The use of digital tools to commit crime is increasing at a nearly exponential rate. Digital tools and computing technologies are ubiquitous, and while many of these tools and technologies can be used for the benefit of society, they also offer up opportunities for criminal activity at an unprecedented level. This course focuses on the intersections of digital technology and crime – both from the perspectives of the perpetrators and the police – and highlights the many digital tools available to enable police services to protect and to serve a digital society.
