Data Communications & Networking III

In this course students learn how to design, configure and troubleshoot networks. The focus of this course is on the architecture, components and operations of routers and switches in a large and more complex network. Students learn to configure routers and switches for advanced functionality using routing protocols like Multi-Area OSPF and EIGRP as well as get experience configuring and troubleshooting network traffic flow control. They also learn about switching protocols like STP, VTP and VLANs. These skills are vital in today's ever growing and overcrowded networks to help keep the network communication paths functioning efficiently and properly supporting the businesses they are designed for. This course prepares students to continue their networking skills education in the DCOM 4100 course in semester 4.
