APCO Public Safe Telecommunicator

Students gain an understanding of the need for professional standards in emergency communications and how they impact public safety, responder safety and resource allocation. APCO Public Safety Telecommunicator is a basic emergency communications course designed by the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO). In this course, taught by a certified APCO trainer, students learn the basic skills required of an emergency telecommunicator. This is a PASS or FAIL course. Upon successful completion (PASS), students receive certification from APCO Institute. Successful completion means 1) attaining a mark of 80 per cent on the final exam (Test #1); 2) receiving a passing grade on all class assignments, and; 3) meeting minimum attendance requirements* as set out by APCO. *Student must be present for 90% (38 hours) of class hours.
