Field Placement II - Ofre

In Semester 4 students in the Office Administration- Real Estate will complete a field placement component (2 days per week- achieving 196 hours) that consists of working with an organization/brokerage/firm of office administration staff, completing a variety of objectives and obtaining valuable insights in a professional office environment. Prior to going out to their field placement, students gather and submit all required clearances, releases, and other related documentation in order to be released on placement. While the college has a list of host agencies willing to provide a well-rounded placement experience, students are responsible for being ACTIVE participants in the process of initiating contact, attending interviews where required, and deciding which host agency they wish to work for. Students are expected to apply their learning to assist them in selecting a placement that offers them the experience they are seeking and that the course outline requires. Student's choice in placement is directly linked to their skills, abilities, attitudes and self-imposed limitations (e.g. specific geographic area) and effort in securing a placement. Guidance and support is available to assist students with choosing a placement that matches their abilities and areas of interest. They also establish their individual learning objectives/goals for their placement, which are confirmed by the Placement Host. Students also review general employer expectations related to professionalism and workplace conduct. Students should expect to be exposed to routine matters of administration as well as agent and client support in their placement experience. Employers evaluate student performance upon completion of the placement and students submit a formal report on their experience.
