Field Placement - HR

The field placement experience in the Human Resources program is an integral part of the student's experience and preparation for the workforce. During field placement the student will work with an organization's human resources staff to complete a variety of objectives and obtain valuable insights into the workings of an HR department. Students will also engage in a weekly one hour classroom-based seminar and one-to-one meetings (as requested) with the FP professor for the 14 weeks of the semester. The student will establish mutually agreed-upon performance objectives with the employer, complete the tasks and be evaluated by the employer on job performance and professionalism, and will be evaluated by the field placement professor based on the completion of all required assignments and documents. The employer's work assignments and the student's learning objectives are discussed and confirmed in a field placement contract at the start of the experience. The student's performance is monitored during their placement and is formally reviewed at the conclusion of the course by their on-site supervisor. Students are expected to complete the required number of hours (208 hours over 13 weeks) at the field placement to obtain a credit for this course.
