Field Placement

Advertising students will participate in a field placement within the Advertising/Marketing communications industry where they must demonstrate the knowledge and skills acquired from the program. Although students are encouraged to proactively seek opportunities, the program team offers support through lead sharing and interview coordination with partners to provide opportunities for students to showcase talents. Students are expected to complete a minimum of 5 weeks in a related advertising discipline in order to meet requirements (alternate timing/scheduling can be arranged and must be approved by the Field Placement Supervisor for those wishing to complete placement hours throughout the program). 5 weeks is considered a sufficient amount of time to display knowledge and skills in order for Placement Supervisors to accurately assess student performance. Students are to be regarded as full-time employees during the placement period; assuming students complete 5 full days a week at 8 hours a day, this would equate to a total of 200 hours over a 5 week period. Full days are preferred so the experience proves beneficial to both students and the participating company, however, total hours are negotiable based on the needs of the participating company.
