H.R. Planning (HURM)

This course introduces students to the concepts of human resources strategy formulation and implementation. It deals with the ways in which human resources planning techniques are strategically applied to help organizations achieve a competitive advantage. Topics include environmental influences on strategic human resources management, forecasting HR demand and supply, succession management, change management, downsizing and restructuring, outsourcing and planning for the effective management of HR issues resulting from mergers and acquisitions. The role of technology in HR planning is also explored. Successful completion of this course, with a minimum final grade of 65%, will qualify as an approved credit towards the academic component of the Certified Human Resources Professional designation (CHRP), a designation by the Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA).
