Human Resources Planning

This course deals with the ways in which human resources planning techniques are strategically applied to help organizations achieve a competitive advantage. Topics include forecasting HR demand and supply, succession management, downsizing and restructuring, HR metrics, HR technology, and planning for the effective management of HR issues resulting from mergers and acquisitions. The integration of corporate and HR strategies is evaluated in both a historical and modern context. Students apply spreadsheet software to a number of quantitative problems posed by the above topics. Successful completion of this course, with a minimum final grade of 65%, will qualify as an approved credit towards the academic component of the Certified Human Resources Professional designation (CHRP), a designation by the Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA).
