This course examines the essentials of digital media, involving the study of various facets of visual design as they relate to film and animation. Digital imaging and image manipulation will be used to build a technical and creative toolset in Photoshop. This course serves to support the program's core classes by focusing on masking, lighting, colour and texturing. Animation whether 2D or 3D, is essentially a form of communication. It is important and necessary to focus on the foundation of visual communication to deliver a clear message to a particular audience. This foundation class will explore the design elements and principles through exercises using photo editing software to learn to communicate a strong idea, feeling or emotion in a 2D visual world.
