Insurance Law

This course will introduce the law clerk student to the fundamental principles of Insurance law, including regulation and licensing of insurance companies, creation and enforcement of insurance contracts, insurance relationships, and enforcement of insurance policies. There will be an emphasis on indemnity insurance and its role in providing coverage for various types of losses that may occur in Canadian society. Included is a study of the Insurance Companies Act (Canada), Insurance Act (Ontario), and case law in Canada's insurance regulatory framework.
