Employment Law

This course introduces students to the study of employment law and the impact on an employment relationship. It will take the student from the beginning of the employment relationship with the hiring process to the termination of the working relationship and the different steps in between. The course will focus on employment law including the judicial framework of courts and administrative systems, the legal requirements and legislation pertaining to hiring processes, employment contracts, grievances, arbitrations, duty to accommodate and termination of employment relationships. It will also cover legislation that affects employment including Employment Standards Act, Ontario Pay Equity Act, Ontario Human Rights Code and more.
