Legal Aspects Of International Trade

This course provides an introduction to the international legal framework relevant to carrying on business in the global village. It is specifically designed for the student in the international business program who requires an awareness of best practices for the successful and legal exchange of goods and services across borders. The course also enables the student to explore legal issues in international business transactions from a Canadian perspective. The course includes the macro-environment for global business with a focus on multilateral agreements and international organizations. In addition to the legal frameworks governing international business, the course deals with the micro-environment of international business. The course also examines due diligence and trade risk management tools relating to imports, exports, taxation, product liability, intellectual property and competition.
